The City of Germantown has a vacancy on the City Pool Board. Crews are working on Dayton Pike from 252 to Weaver Road. They will continue at this location for the next 7-10 days.

Areas affected may experience the following:

• Discoloration - This is caused by the flushing of hydrants and can be resolved by running water from your tap until it runs clear. This process should take 1 to 3 minutes on average but may take as long as 20. Should the discoloration continue, contact the City of Germantown at 937-855-7255.
• Water Disruption - In order to install new hydrants, water mains will need to be temporarily shut down. This will result in short-term disruption to water services. If further precautions are required, residents will be contacted directly by City personnel.

With election season in full swing, we encourage residents to make sure they are placing their political signs in legal spaces. Signs may be placed in your yard, but they may NOT be placed in the public right-of-way. This is in accordance with ordinance 1139.12 of the codified ordinances of Germantown. This prohibited area can be generally understood as the grassy area between the road and the sidewalk. More specifically, signs shall be set back from the established right-of-way line of any street, which is the edge of the sidewalk closest to your house/property, at least ten (10) feet. This also includes street corners.

This ordinance is in place to promote safety and prevent potential visibility hazards and/or obstructed views on the roadways. These regulations also extend to other types of temporary signage, such as garage sale and real estate signs. Per the ordinance, signs that are illegally placed in the right-of-way may be confiscated by the City and will be kept for up to 10 days before being disposed of. Confiscated signs may be retrieved at 148 S Water Street.

Community Garage Sale. 9:00 am to 6:00 pm on Saturday and 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Sunday. Registration is open for all households interested in participating. If you wish to participate, please contact City Hall at 937-855-7255. You will be asked to provide your address as well as your top three sale items, as we will be creating a “Garage Sale Treasure List” to help direct shoppers and advertise the event. Sign up by Thursday Sept 12 to be included.
